This past week, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse was arrested on the charge of first degree intentional homicide for allegedly shooting three people during a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Video footage of the incident has since been released, the contents of which have caused many to believe Rittenhouse was acting in self-defense.
Rittenhouse’s attorney also shed some light on the context of the situation in question. “Kyle was not there looking for a fight…He was there to protect businesses that were being destroyed and burned to the ground. He was also there to provide medical aid to protesters and others who might be wounded.” He went on to further explain that Rittenhouse only fired his weapon after rioters incited an attack.
President Trump acknowledged Monday that the incident is “something that we’re looking at right now, and it’s under investigation.” The President also shared the observations he made watching the video footage, stating that Rittenhouse “was trying to get away from” rioters, but “he fell and then they very violently attacked him.”
