Woman reunited with dog who was swiped outside NYC deli

A 74-year-old woman is celebrating the New Year with her beloved Luca — after being reunited with the 7-year-old miniature dachshund, who was swiped from outside a Manhattan deli.

“Thanks to the 24th Precinct @NYPDDetectives – Luca was reunited with his owner this evening. Thank you to the entire #UWS community for spreading the word. #bettertogether,” the precinct said in a tweet Wednesday night.

The dognapper was captured on video giving the pooch a head scratch next to a Garden of Eden market in Morningside Heights while Victoria DeGrazia’s partner shopped for juice at around 4:35 p.m. Sunday.

He then untied Luca’s leash from around the side of a fruit stand, grabbed him — and bolted from the shop on Broadway and West 107th, according to police.

“The dog is worth so, so much to my family that if [the thief] understood, he would want to return the dog, ” DeGrazia, a history professor at Columbia University, told The Post earlier.

Authorities said someone recognized the dog from media reports and called police, telling them he was spotted on Villa Avenue in The Bronx, according to WABC.

When police arrived, Luca was there alone, the station reported.

The suspect, who is wanted for grand larceny, has been described as roughly  5-foot-9 inches tall and 170 pounds with black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue and black jacket, dark jeans and a face mask.
