One Wheel of Fortune contestant shocked viewers with an especially lucky win on yesterday’s episode. Laura Trammell, a sixth grade teacher from California, made history on the game show with a massive win: she became the first person to ever win a house in the Wheel of Fortune bonus round, Yahoo Entertainment reports.
Locking down a house was the biggest of Trammell’s wins yesterday. Before the bonus round, she’d already won $23,690 and a trip to St. Thomas, but she really hit the jackpot when she completed the puzzle with the phrase “I caught a glimpse” and was awarded with a house worth $375,000.
“She caught a glimpse,” host Pat Sajak said after her win. “She caught a glimpse of her new home!” Trammell was speechless and admitted she was “shaking” after her win, but eventually gathered her words to share her excitement. Even Sajak was stunned. “This is just nuts,” he exclaimed.
“I am beyond excited, I’m still in shock,” a speechless Trammell said. “I still can’t believe it just happened.” Sajak replied, “Well you’e not dreaming, or we’re all having the same dream.” In total, Trammell won $398,690 in cash and prizes.
Trammell’s history-making win took place during Wheel‘s “Home Sweet Home” week. The show teamed up with Minto Communities and Margaritaville, adding a home envelope to the iconic bonus wheel, per Entertainment Weekly. Contestants appearing on the show between April 26-30 all had the chance to win a new home in Latitude Margaritaville, described as a “55-and-better active adult community.”
