Despite being 100% vaccinated against COVID-19, MSNBC host Joy Reid on Tuesday admitted to wearing not just one, but two masks, while jogging in the park. Her practice runs counter to the Centers for Diseases Control’s (CDC) new outdoor guidelines for fully-vaccinated Americans.

“Dr. Gupta, I am among the full-vaccinated, joined Team Pfizer, and I did go jogging today in the park. And I did – this was the mask I wore – ” Reid explained, holding up a cloth mask. “with a doctor’s mask underneath it.”

“Most of the people I saw in the park – the park was packed – I’d say like 95% of the people still had masks on,” she said. “There are people who are getting really upset about that. I won’t name them.”

“Should people be freaking out that some people, like myself, who are vaccinated, are still wearing masks outdoors? Should we do that?” the MSNBC host asked.

According to Mediaite, NBC medical analyst Dr. Vin Gupta said Reid was not the only person who continues to wear masks outdoors even though they have received the vaccine.

“Definitely not,” Gupta replied. “I think you’re going to see residual masking based on personal preference for months, if not years, after this pandemic is over. Nobody should judge anyone else’s personal health decisions.”

The MSNBC host wanted to know if those who are fully vaccinated against COVID should continue wearing masks outdoors. Dr. Gupta cited newly released CDC guidelines that state Americans no longer need to wear masks while outdoors as long as they are fully vaccinated. The one exception is if the person is in a crowded area.

“The CDC was well-timed to put this out there, because there is no data — frankly, there has not been data for many months now — that outdoor transmission is a thing,” he explained. “There’s no way you’re going to really get exposed unless maybe you’re in a rave or an outdoor concert where you’re really close to people who are not masking. Outside of that, this is the wise policy.”

Despite the updated guidance, Reid stated she continues to double mask while jogging because of the “backdraft” other joggers leave behind in the air.

“If I’m going to run behind a lot of people, I do it,” she explained.

Even though the CDC changed its guidelines yet again on masks, the government agency is encouraging Americans to continue practice social distancing. Although the guidelines have been relaxed for those who have been fully vaccinated against the virus, unvaccinated individuals are encouraged to continue wearing masks in public.

As The Daily Wire previously reported, “According to the latest CDC guidance, people are considered ‘fully vaccinated’ either ‘2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines,’ or ‘2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.'”
