One team’s winning streak will come to a halt Thursday night, when 25th-ranked Tulsa plays host to Tulane. Tulsa has won four games in a row, including two against ranked opponents, and opened as a
6.5-point favorite versus the Green Wave.
Despite the higher percentage of bets laying the -6.5 with Tulsa, the line has not quivered. Tulane boasts a top-20 scoring offense nationally, averaging 36.7 points per game. That is in large part due to freshman quarterback Michael Pratt, who has thrown 10 TD passes in his last four games. Not only has the Green Wave gotten it done through the air, but they have also done it on the ground, averaging 224.1 rushing yards per game, which lands them 19th in FBS.
Tulsa does its fair share of scoring as well, averaging 29 points per game. However, what will separate these two teams is defense. While the Green Wave have allowed 418 total yards per game, their defense shows up when it needs it. Tulane ranks in the top-20 nationally in takeaways, tackles for loss and sacks per game.
Expect this one to be higher scoring, and for Tulane to keep it close.
The plays: Tulane +6.5 and Over 53.5.
