Stranger Things is welcoming some new faces for Season 4. The hit Netflix series has added eight cast members to its upcoming season, including Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco and Joseph Quinn as series regulars, Deadline reports. Also joining the cast are Game of Thrones actor Tom Wlaschiha, Sherman Augustus, Mason Dye, Nikola Djuricko and Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Robert Englund.
Production on Season 4 of Stranger Things, which was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, picked back up again in September. In the new batch of episodes, we can expect to see more of Hopper (David Harbour), who is still alive after Season 3 and is now imprisoned in the Soviet Union. And while we didn’t have many details about Season 4 before, today’s casting news gave us a few hints about what’s in store.
The opening episode of the new season, mysteriously titled “The Hellfire Club,” is actually linked to Quinn’s character Eddie, who is described as “an audacious 80’s metalhead who runs The Hellfire Club, Hawkins High’s official D&D club.” Eddie is “hated by those who don’t understand him — and beloved by those who do — Eddie will find himself at the terrifying epicenter of this season’s mystery.”
The other two recurring characters for Season 4 are linked to a new setting in the show, a psychiatric hospital. Bower will star as Peter Ballard, “a caring man who works as an orderly at a psychiatric hospital. Tired of the brutality he witnesses day after day, will Peter finally take a stand?” Englund’s character Victor Creel is described as “a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.”
As for the rest of the new Stranger Things cast members, Franco will star as Jonathan’s new best friend Argyle, “a fun-loving stoner who proudly delivers delicious pizza pies for Surfer Boy Pizza.” Wlaschiha and Djuricko will both play Russian characters, with Wlaschiha taking on the role of prison guard Dmitri and Djuricko appearing as Yuri, a smuggler.
Dye will play Jason Carver, who “seemingly has it all – he’s handsome, he’s rich, he’s a sports star, and he’s dating the most popular girl in school. But as a new evil threatens Hawkins, Jason’s perfect world begins to unravel.” And finally, Augustus will join the cast as Lt. Colonel Sullivan, “an intelligent, no-nonsense man who believes he knows how to stop the evil in Hawkins once and for all.”
Stranger Things is also welcoming back Brett Gelman (Murray Bauman) and Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair) as regulars for Season 4.
