Le’Veon Bell’s new quarterback is helping to roll out the red carpet for him in Kansas City.
Patrick Mahomes joined the welcoming party for Bell after the running back went from getting cut by the Jets to signing with the Chiefs in less than 48 hours.
“Welcome my brother! Let’s get it!” Mahomes tweeted at Bell on Thursday night.
Bell gets quite the upgrade, going from the 0-5 Jets to the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs. He reportedly also had interest from the Dolphins and Bills, but instead of staying in the AFC East he’ll soon be taking handoffs from one of the game’s best.
“Kansas City, #ChiefsKingdom, thank you for the opportunity 🙏🏾 let’s go!” Bell tweeted Thursday night.
It was on Twitter where Bell had expressed his discontent in New York. After returning from a hamstring injury Sunday to play in a 30-10 loss to the Cardinals, he went on to “like” tweets about how the Jets were misusing him, not targeting him enough in the passing game and even a few that called for him to be traded.
The Jets couldn’t find a trade partner, but Bell still got his wish as they released him instead, opening the door for him to join the dangerous Chiefs offense.
