Madeleine McCann’s parents still hopeful in search for missing toddler

The parents of Madeleine McCann, missing for more than 13 years, say they are still hopeful of finding her — even though the search was recently hampered by the coronavirus pandemic.

Writing a New Year’s message on their Official Find Madeleine Campaign website, Gerry and Kate McCann said their thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has suffered during 2020, according to The Sun newspaper.

“Understandably, the investigation to find Madeleine has been forced to slow down as a result of the pandemic,” they wrote. “It hasn’t stopped however and the hope, energy and determination to find her and uncover the truth remain steadfast.”

The British toddler disappeared in May 2007 from her parents’ holiday rental apartment in a resort in southern Portugal. She was 3 years old at the time.
