A fly-by-night bid to have Stormy Daniels buy the rights to blow up Trump Plaza in Atlantic City seems likely to fizzle as a GoFundMe dedicated to the effort has raised less than $400.
The page, started by Daniels superfan Joe Bedell of St. Louis, Missouri, raised just $375 in its first hours of existence (with $200 alone coming from Bedell)
“I live in STL but will nominate Stormy to complete the demolition if we win. She has expressed interest! If she can’t do it, I will nominate someone else appropriate or I will go myself, with acknowledgement to all of you!,” Bedell said, urging likeminded fans to pony up.
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, became briefly famous in 2018 after news emerged that she has received payments from Donald Trump’s legal team just before the 2016 election to keep quiet about an alleged affair the two had in 2006 — the year after he married his third wife, Melania. Trump has denied the charge.
Trump’s once glittering Casino has been shuttered since 2004 and now exists only as a decrepit and semi-demolished hulk. Earlier this year debris from the building crashed down onto the Atlantic City boardwalk.
The full structure is set to be dynamited on Jan. 29, 2021 — just nine days after Joe Biden will move into the White House. The city is officially auctioning off the rights to hit the demolition button in an effort to raise money for the local Boys & Girls Club.
“Some of Atlantic City’s iconic moments happened there, but on his way out, Donald Trump openly mocked Atlantic City, saying he made a lot of money and then got out,” said Mayor Marty Small. “I wanted to use the demolition of this place to raise money for charity.”
The porn star herself has said she is behind the effort after it was briefly taken offline by GoFundMe
“I really want to do it…and we all know I’m good at pressing buttons. LOL #teamstormy,” she said in a tweet Thursday.
