In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases, many European countries have implemented increased travel restrictions. Some countries in Europe have been able to directly trace their increase in positive cases to tourists and returning vacationers.
Many countries, such as Italy, are requiring those coming from hotspots to be tested for the Coronavirus upon arrival. Other nations are mandating that those traveling from designated areas take part in a self-imposed two-week quarantine, effective as soon as they cross the border.
Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza addressed his reasoning behind the implementation of these new requirements. “We need to continue to be cautious to preserve what we achieved in recent months, thanks to everybody’s sacrifice.”
