Three nights into his 10-night run as guest host of Jeopardy!, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has scored viral moments in every episode.
At the end of his debut, Rodgers demonstrated both poise and humorous self-awareness when the defending champion trolled him in “Final Jeopardy” with a question about this season’s NFC Championship Game, which Rodgers and the Packers lost to Tom Brady and the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccanneers. On Tuesday’s episode, Rodgers used the contestant chats to drop a “Turd Ferguson” reference. And Wednesday, he expressed his love for the Ewoks of the Star Wars franchise.
He already has won over New York Post columnist Andrea Peyser, who wrote that Rodgers “took home another Super Bowl in my book” by hosting Jeopardy! “He’s that good. I never saw it coming. But the Green Bay Packers quarterback, 37, has got it all, and then some. He’s funny, self-effacing, whip smart and ridiculously handsome, with a sense of comedic timing that should be the envy of every seasoned television professional out there.”
Amy Rey, a market researcher from Lawrenceville, N.J., and contestant on Wednesday night’s show, also approved, even though she’s a New York Giants fan, and she didn’t win the night.
Elsewhere on Twitter, the biggest reactions to Rodgers as game show host this week came, perhaps unsurprisingly, from football fans and other athletes.
Former tennis pro and ESPN tennis commentator Brad Gilbert gave a thumbs up, among other positive emojis.
Pat McAfee, an NXT wrestler and podcaster who used to kick for the Indianapolis Colts, picks Rodgers to take over Jeopardy! permanently, too.
He’s certainly better than Dr. Oz, in most viewers’ books.
Ben Collins, who covers the “dystopia beat” for NBC News, certainly felt the cool, calm, quarterback demeanor emanating off of Rodgers in a suit.
Other broadcasters and casual fans have agreed so far, too! No matter what NFL team they root for!
Rodgers’s run as guest host of Jeopardy! continues weeknights through April 16.
